More Information

VCI Paper (Volatile Corrosion Inhibitor) is a specialised, high-performance technical packaging paper treated with advanced anti-corrosion chemical formulations. Designed for the automotive, aerospace, and precision engineering sectors, VCI paper works by continuously releasing an invisible, odourless, and non-toxic rust-inhibiting vapour into the air inside a sealed package. This vapour forms a molecular protective layer on metal surfaces, completely blocking moisture, salt, and oxygen from causing rust, oxidation, or tarnish – all without requiring messy grease, oils, or chemical dips.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

How does VCI anti-rust paper function inside a closed box?
The paper releases volatile corrosion inhibitors that vaporise and condense onto all metal surfaces within the enclosure, creating an invisible, microscopic barrier that actively repels rust-causing moisture and oxygen.

Do parts wrapped in VCI paper need to be cleaned or degreased after unwrapping?
No. This is its primary benefit over traditional rust-prevention oils. Once unwrapped, the molecular vapour layer instantly dissipates into the air, leaving the clean metal parts dry and ready for immediate assembly or painting.

How long does the rust protection last once a part is wrapped in VCI paper?
When properly sealed inside a clean carton or poly bag, VCI paper can provide continuous rust and corrosion protection for up to two years or more in long-term storage.

Does the metal part need to touch the VCI paper directly to be protected?
No direct contact is mandatory, though close proximity is ideal. As long as the paper is enclosed within the package, the vapor will expand to protect recessed areas, blind holes, and internal cavities.

Can VCI paper be used for heavy-duty international sea freight export shipping?
Yes, it is heavily used for sea container export packing, defending vulnerable machined components from salt spray and extreme temperature fluctuations.

Is VCI paper recyclable after use?
Yes, our VCI papers are fully repulpable and can be recycled within standard industrial paper recycling streams.

Can I use VCI paper to wrap painted or plastic-coated parts?
Yes, it is chemically inert and will not harm or degrade standard industrial paints, rubber seals, or plastic enclosures.
